The SS Palo Alto, made of concrete, was built for wartime use as a tanker, however World War 1 ended before ship construction was finished.  It was purchased in 1929 and brought to Seacliff Beach, Aptos, CA where it was used as an amusement center for two seasons when the company went broke.  The ship remains a scenic landmark.
